Our BIOSPECIMENS AND DATA FOR RESEARCH
Access to biospecimens and associated clinical and genomic data to support research and enable discovery in precision oncology
Explore Omico’s biospecimens and data for research
Omico enables access to a unique national resource of biospecimens, supported by rich, prospectively collected clinical and genomic data.
These resources are made available to researchers through a governed access process, supporting scientifically rigorous and ethically responsible research that advances discovery in cancer and informs future care.
Access to biospecimens and associated data enables deeper translational and discovery-driven research.
What’s available
Our Biospecimens
Available biospecimens may include:
- Peripheral blood samples (processed and stored)
- Tumour tissue (e.g. FFPE)
- Derived materials such as DNA and RNA
Availability depends on cohort, cancer type and specific research requirements.
Associated data
Biospecimens are supported by de-identified data relevant to the approved research project, which may include:
- Clinical information
- Genomic profiling results
- Pathology data
- Epidemiological and family history information
Why this resource is valuable
Omico’s biospecimens and associated data are part of a nationally coordinated, prospectively consented resource, developed through routine clinical care and research participation.
Access is governed to ensure that each project represents a scientifically justified, ethically sound and responsible use of a finite and valuable resource.
What underpins this resource
✓ Prospectively consented participation
Patients have consented for their biospecimens and data to be used to support research.
✓ Clinically informed context
Biospecimens are supported by detailed clinical, genomic and pathology information.
✓ National scale and diversity
Reflects a broad patient population across Australia.
✓ Responsible access and stewardship
Applications are reviewed to ensure appropriate and high-quality use.
✓ Contribution to shared knowledge
Researchers return data and insights to help build the evidence base over time.
How access works
Access to our biospecimens and associated data is managed through a structured process to ensure scientific quality, ethical oversight and responsible use of this finite resource.
Omico works with researchers throughout this process to support appropriate and effective use of the resource.
